Founded in 1922 in New York City as a supplier of wire strengthening agent to the milling industry (millinery), Alpha Wire grew throughout the 1930s to become an important supplier to the expanding radio industry by producing antenna wire and insulators. In the following decades, demand for electronics from the defense industry during World War II and the advent of television boosted the business.
