WIMA has a long history in the field of passive electronic components. The company was founded in 1948 by Wilhelm Westermann in Westphalia, Unna. In just a few years, he developed the company into one of the leading companies in the capacitor manufacturing industry. WIMA has four locations in Germany: a sales office and R&D center in Mannheim and three state-of-the-art manufacturing plants in Aurich, Berlin and Unna. The continuous pursuit of new technologies has made WIMA the preferred brand for high-quality film capacitors worldwide. WIMA capacitors can be mainly divided into the following three types: plastic film capacitors, paper capacitors, and supercapacitors. The main customer groups are the automotive manufacturing industry, consumer and industrial electronics, and the lighting industry.
